BeergardenIn accordance with our leitmotif it is possible to purchase art, sausage and beer at the bar of our summer beer garden. Ranging from art postcards and calenders, unique souvenirs, as well catalogues and books, but even genuine oil paintings are on the bill of fare. We ought to mention by the way, and especially if the weather is bad, that we have both hot frankfurters and bockwurst, instead of Thuringian sausages done on the open grill. As a side plate there is homemade vegan potato salad. Accompanying our annual ‘Art, Sausage & Beer‘ exhibition we accordingly pimp up and internationalise the sausage sorts on the menu. Be prepared for tasty surprises! Of course we have a range of dishes other than sausages, such as grilled steaks or hot pelmeni from the cooking pot with some schmand or sour sauerrahm cream on top. For children may we suggest germander sweet dumplings with vanilla sauce. Accompanying our coffee specialities brewed on a La Strada eroica coffee machine we also have home baked cake. At the bar we have Landskron Pils and Münchner Weisse all the way from the Hofbräuhaus Münich on tap. On top of this we even have bottled Lech beer from Poland and Gambrinus from the Czech Republic. Dark Pupenschulzes beer from the Landskron brewery has proved to be a bit of an insiders favourite tip. But we also have both non-alcoholic Weizen beer and pils on offer. For the thirsty wanderer and cyclist we of course have a whole range of refreshing lemonades, fruit juices and drinks diluted with sparkling water. And we keep a good dry red wine reserved, not only for the art critic. We also have white wine, prosecco, and selected long drinks and cocktails in our drinks assortment. And for those who are in a terrible hurry we always have a Becherovka or an ice lolly.
Christopher is a great host, he prepares the breakfast personally, which is consoling for the rest, after all, it is very cheap and strategically well located.
Not everything is perfect, but incredibly special. Great demands on cleanliness and comfort should be placed in front of the door.
Nice view but open is only when you walk up the steep path and even in the best weather can be closed.
We camped in the beautiful, somewhat overgrown garden. The price-performance ratio is reasonable. The atmosphere is very nice. The house is full of art and you feel right at home! We received a friendly welcome and had a nice evening with interesting conversations. Everyone was very accommodating. The kitchen was nice and well equipped, the shared bathroom facilities were average. We had a nice stay.
The owner is an artist, the whole hostel is decorated with paintings. Pleasant prices, there is a place for camping
Alternative accommodation. Kunsthaus is run by Christopher Simpson from Lancester. Not the most luxurious accommodation and not everything in top condition, but the company is very warm and the guests' concerns are taken care of.
Nice view of the Elbe valley
We had a nice stay in the hostel. Nice view from the city and river. Beds where a bit primitive, so were the blankets and pillows. Nonetheless nice breakfast with good coffee makes up for this.
Christopher is a super friendly host, the price is decent for what you get. It's a little bit messy but that's what you would expect from an art house that doubles up as a hostel.
Very interesting house and interesting host
Beer garden with a great view of the Elbe and the city of Wehlen. Somewhat simple but not overrun yet.
ok
I loved my stay here, I found it very relaxing and refreshing. I stayed for four nights while hiking in the area and it was a lovely refuge at the end of each day. Chris is so friendly and helpful. The house has such incredible atmosphere, and the terrace is a beautiful place to sit and eat breakfast each morning. It's a basic hikers hostel so don't expect luxury but for me it was absolutely perfect.
It was a 5-day experiment and because I'm 65, I was explicitly referred to the low standard of the house. That was by no means an exaggeration: a great task for craftsmen ... The biggest plus, however, is the open humanity and atmosphere on site. The "Garden" offers a phenomenal view of the Elbe Valley with its railway and the dreamy houses in Märklin size. Sven also serves breakfast or cold beer for dinner, all at competitive prices. For the local communication I would give 5 stars. I hope that the artist and owner Chris, whose excellent pictures I do not want to conceal here, as soon as possible renovated.
Quite quirky, pretty empty when we visited, possibly seasonal slump, enjoyed the views and the quiet
Actually "nicely meant" retro style, but overall just too soft. You can't really feel good either in the beds or in the (shared) bathroom. After all, the view of the Elbe "into the valley" is fantastic.
Accommodation at the end of my 1st and 7th stage of the 8th etappen Malerweges. The hostel is great: especially the people! Außerderm there is a campfire site, where I played in the evening with other cozy black stories, a great beer garden, from which you can look at the Elbe. The hostel is full of artworks by the artist who lives there. You can talk to him quickly, he can unpack many stories if you want :) You can not expect a 08/15 hostel. The rooms are very comfortable and have their own charm, which I especially liked. Only downside: the mountain that you have to run up to the hostel, but worth it! Therefore only half a disadvantage :) I definitely recommend the Schützenhaus! Best regards, Mrs. A.
Everything Tippi-Toppi! Hostel as described on website + illustrated. Experience the wild east in the Ossi retro style. Very pleasant people and the location with views over the Elbe to the bastion very cool. Beer garden also nice, as you can chill out well. Great conversations with guests from all over the world. We recommend!
Now this place is cool, if you are looking for BoHo in Bohemia then look no further. Great beer, great BBQ food, friendly staff. Beautiful location with stunning views all with a laid back atmosphere and arty vibe. Violins on the lawn during my visit!!
